Travis Wheatley was born in Texas in the early 1960’s and raised in a small North Texas town during a time when music was a ubiquitous voice woven into the fabric of the changing social sensibilities of the day. Neither a “jock”, nor interested in formal academic clubs, Travis spent the bulk of his teen years learning how to play guitar and honing his skills in various garage bands along the way. As was the general norm of that generation, upon reaching the ripe young age of 18, Mr. Wheatley could not wait to leave “podunk” and make his mark in “the big city”. To that end, off he and his guitar went to Austin, a city that had an exciting and vibrant music scene. Throughout his 20’s he enjoyed moderate success playing the local bar scenes in Central and North Texas and as time moved on his priorities began to shift to the realities that generally accompany hard core adulting. His next several decades were mostly filled with the roller coaster that is parenting along with the traditional career required to provide for a family in the suburban lifestyle to which they were accustomed. Now, three kids and three grand kids later, Travis is very much enjoying his post-career man-o-leisure lifestyle and is very happy to be able to spend more time writing songs illuminated by the perspective he has gained along the way.
